a few hours ago i reeeally wanted to go home and watch Kick-Ass the major motion picture! alas, i was at work and could not leave for such petty reasons. so, i did the next best thing. put on some E.S. Posthumus and opened up Photoshop. here's what happened:
(here's some of what i was listening to while painting)
this is the image i drew for Honky D's latest micro song to be posted on www.microsongs.com! it should be posted shortly. you can also see the drawing i did from before on that site as well. the last song was entitled "Come Son of Jorel" and the new one will be called "Stop Tryin' To Control My Brain".
WELP! here it is.. took me a while, but i finally finished this drawing i started sometime last week. i had to work on it in little spurts since i was pretty busy, but nevertheless, it's done! i'm hoping it'll go to paint someday, but we'll see if that happens. for now, i hope someone out there enjoys the illustration. i drew this to a song provided by my friend Sean. it's called "Shankill Butchers" by The Decemberists. VERY creepy song.
ok, so here's the 1-shot that i started last week that i didn't get to finish. now that i have finished though, it is here for your enjoyment. and i do hope you enoy it. the song i used this time is by a group called Sweetback. the song is called "Powder" from their 1996, self-titled album, Sweetback. Their cool, mellow sound gave me inspiration for this story, which i wouldn't mind turning into an animated short if i had the time. i think it'd be especially cool as a 3D piece. anyway, here it is:
WELP!! just as i promised, i'm going on three weeks strong with this new idea of setting up a story in a single shot. i hope you all are diggin these as much as i enjoy drawing them out for you. and i hope you like them enough to keep coming back to see my stuff.
anyway, the one i drew for this week is to a song from back in the late 90's when techno was really in. the song is called Busy Child by The Crystal Method. of course i've included the song for you to hear while you look at the drawing. the best way i like to look at it is by listening to the first part of the song until just after the intro. there's a part where EVERYthing kicks in at once and that's when you scroll down to look at the picture! give it a try...
here's my new story sketch for the week. i drew this one out to a song by Stevie Wonder called "Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer" from way back in 1971, but this song is still the poop! Anyway, click play below to listen to the song while you look at the drawing.
ok, so it was brought to my attention that i haven't been putting up any storyboards yet/still/whatever... SO, while at work i thought of this cool idea. every week i'll try to post something boarding related so that there's somethin on here to look at. not only that, but i thought of this idea to do a one-shot kinda panel just to describe a story or idea. the first one i did for this week, i actually drew out to music. i drew it while listening to this song "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. feel free to listen to it as you explore this drawing. i recommend letting the music load a little bit and then start playing before scrolling down to look at the drawing. hope you like it! (and as always, click the drawing to enlarge it!)
