Shankill Butcher

WELP! here it is.. took me a while, but i finally finished this drawing i started sometime last week. i had to work on it in little spurts since i was pretty busy, but nevertheless, it's done! i'm hoping it'll go to paint someday, but we'll see if that happens. for now, i hope someone out there enjoys the illustration. i drew this to a song provided by my friend Sean. it's called "Shankill Butchers" by The Decemberists. VERY creepy song.

so i thought i'd do a sketch of one of my favorite clichés (to hear, not so much to use), which is "screwed the pooch". i quickly turned away from this idea. sorry Alaia, you'll have to wait one more day for a new drawing.

MR INCREDIBLE

72 unsuspecting members of 24 Hour Fitness had the esteemed pleasure of working out with Mr. Incredible this morning. my brother and i saw this guy in his Gatorade-yellow colored shirt working out across the floor from us. it was great! he was even so kind as to sing for everyone on the upper floor (for those of us who forgot to bring our own ipods) at the top of his lungs. and in case we were missing it, he grunted with each power-packed pump so we wouldn't feel bad that he worked out that whole time and we let it pass without noticing!

it could have been his angelic, American Idol reject pipes that he sang with, or it may have been because we were in awe of his presence, but no one could stop glancing over just in time to happen to catch the not-so-rare occasion of him striking this exact pose in the mirror. i'm only guessing that this is what he saw, but i may be overshooting his modesty. he was one hell of a man!

i feel like it would be pretty rad if they made a movie like The Transporter, but with a gorilla. Alaia and i turned this exercise into a mini drawing challenge. here's hers:

back in action

well, it's hard to believe so much time went by without a single post. alas, here i am posting and writing to nobody. that's ok though, cuz this way if you DO come back, you'll have plenty to check out for the year twenty-ten! and who knows what newcomers will join us? i sure don't! nevertheless, here is my first post back on the scene:



the sketch above is something i jotted down in an attempt to illustrate the mindset i was in from listening to this newer album i received. no, i'm not a masochist. i was recently given an album of a vocalist (who name i won't mention in the miniscule chance it gets back to her) by a friend of mine who generally has great taste in music. for a few reasons though, this album didn't cut it for me. neither did the second disc that is supposed to be better. trying to listen to an entire album of her "smooth, sultry sounds" that her lounge-singer style implies makes me feel like i've been strung up by my wrists and slashed with several paper cuts on my toes so that i'm slowly being drained of life. know what i mean?



this little doodle i did was done last night in a class for work. for some reason, i pay better attention when i'm drawing during class. it works out i guess cuz it probably looks like i'm just taking notes.
